Southern Track Riders is a non profit making amateur club which prides itself on offering track time to members of all ages and abilities. It is run entirely by volunteers and is a very friendly club where you will find a warm welcome.
One of the founder members recognised that there was a gap in speedway for an amateur club where riders could pay an entry fee for taking part in meetings. After a few years of hard work to obtain confirmation of the regulations which the club would need to follow the first meeting took place in 1993.
The club continues to run with the same aim and events are held on SCB licensed tracks which are hired from the promoters.
Riders are assessed by the club’s training officer and placed in classes according to ability.
Youth riders are also welcome and are grouped according to engine size. On reaching the age of 15 on a 500cc engine they can join the adult classes.
Non-riding members are also most welcome to help with the club by increasing the income from membership. We are also always grateful for any helpers either behind the scenes or at the meetings, especially flag marshals.
